These two projects are part of my own family garden, and they represent how thoughtful design can turn everyday outdoor spaces into places where memories are made.
The first space is our dining patio, where we love hosting friends and family for grill outs and long summer evenings. I built a twelve-seat dining table so there is always room for one more. We have filled it many times, and it has become one of our favorite places to slow down and enjoy the people we care about.
The second space is our new firepit patio. This was a challenging area to design due to the existing slopes and elevations that could not be changed without major structural work to the garage and shed. I shaped the patio so water flows safely into the gravel instead of toward the shed, allowing everything to drain naturally and protect the buildings. We also added a gravel strip between the shed and garage so I have a practical spot to park a work truck outside of the driveway.
Together, these spaces show how a yard can be both beautiful and deeply functional. They support family life, solve real problems, and create places where people want to spend time. If you are looking for a garden that brings people together while still working for everyday life, this is the kind of design we can create for you.
