This garden was designed for a lawyer and a retired English teacher who wanted a space they could enjoy without spending every weekend maintaining it. Their dog loved to explore the yard, but the heavy shade meant grass simply wouldn’t grow, leaving large muddy areas that tracked straight into the house.
We transformed the space with solutions that work with the site, not against it.
Sunny areas now shine with colorful, low-maintenance plants, while the old mud zones were replaced with natural flagstone paths that stay beautiful year-round and are sturdy enough for a playful dog. A natural stone edge creates a crisp boundary between the planting beds and the remaining lawn, giving the entire yard a clean, intentional finish.
The result is a warm, welcoming garden that offers color, structure, and simplicity. It is a place to relax, write, and spend time outdoors without the burden of constant upkeep.
